I am a clinical pharmacist and I bought this primarily to show my patients how to check their blood pressure (BP) at home. I have seen quite a few BP machines my patients use and I usually check the machine readings against my own which is done manually. The HEM-712C is one that is inexpensive but gives accurate readings. Do keep in mind that the literature suggests that most machines made after 2000 should be accurate and technique matters more:
1) Know how to use your machine. Read the manual.
2) Sit down for a least 5 minutes before checking your BP
3) Do not talk while checking BP. The sensor can pick up the vibration
4) When you are have a full stomach or need to go to the restroom, readings are not accurate
5) Do not wear tight clothing when checking BP
(Note: wrist and finger BP machine are generally not as accurate)

Great idea! Bought this brand new, along with one of the Wrist cuffs.
My wife & I both check our BP daily. She is an RN, so she has a "Good manual sphygmomanometer". We did a manual pressure check first, then immediately did a check with this Automatic unit.
20# OFF!! This unit was 20# LOWER than the sphygmomanometer! Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! This could caues the difference between life and death! (stroke).
We then tested the Wrist cuff. 25# off!!! 25# LOW. No way! I can't believe that these Automatic machines are being sold and SO MANY people are using these things!! It's Very Scary to think of how people are believing in these and I imagine most people are not checking against a known standard device.
We tested these devices several times during that day. All the tests proved out that this thing is WORTHLESS and DANGEROUS!!
My Recommendation is to take yours to your DOCTOR, BEFORE you use it & let them test against their equipment. if it's not within 10# of their equipment, DO NOT USE IT!
I am apalled at the fact that these things are being sold on Amazon, or anywhere else. I immediately sent mine back and bought a manual sphygmomanometer, with a DIAL instead of a DIGITAL face. I recommend you do the same.

Omron HEM-712C Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with IntelliSense I found the product to be as advertised. It was reliable and produced accurate readings. I would recommend it.
