The Omron HEM-670IT Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor uses Omron's patented IntelliSense technology, which inflates the wrist cuff to the ideal level with each use and offers fast, personalized, and automatic inflation for maximum comfort. No adjustments are required to select an inflation level--especially convenient for hypertensive users and for people with certain arrhythmia or heart disorders, because their blood pressure is more likely to fluctuate. And with the HEM-670IT's 100-memory recall with date and time stamp, as well as averaging capabilities for the last three readings, you can track your blood pressure and pulse progress as your work towards a healthier lifestyle. The HEM-670IT also features a system that detects an irregular heartbeat as well as morning hypertension, giving you an even better understanding of your heart's health. A built-in hypertension indicator lets you know if your readings indicate a high-blood pressure condition. Plus, you'll have additional peace of mind knowing that the HEM-670IT comes with a 5-year warranty.

I have been a SICU Rn for several years before I retired in 1999. This new wrist BP machine works very well but I do not use the multiple settings needed to average the vital sign readings. After disabling the sensor before the reading starts, I liked the rapid BP reading after one activation of the on button. I use the machine every day for myself and my husband. I do think the covering for the wrist section will break down rapidly as it is very thin material on the underside and rubs against the skin with every use. You might want to use a stronger covering at this pressure point. However, I still say this is a great machine and easy to use.

I bought this just a week ago, and accuracy has been no problem. Health issues have required me to be more aware of pulse rate and blood pressure, and this very portable device gives me the same results as at the Dr.'s office. I wish it were easier to install the software. While I appreciate Win XP, my two computers are newer and run Vista and our laptop is a Macbook. I had to download Vista drivers and I did not find anything for the Mac. Still, I am very happy with the purchase, and of course, very happy with the shopping experience here at Amazon.

I just bought the Omron HEM-670IT and yesterday had wife make 4 measurements over a period of around 4 hours using the conventional arm band manometer (circular analog pressure scale actually) and stethoscope. I immediately followed each of her measurements with an Omron reading (average of 3 measurements taken 15 seconds apart). The resulting differences: This Omron model and "sample" averaged 3% high on Systolic and 5% high for diastolic measurements. Fine in my book. A slightly high average measurement I consider to be more acceptable than one that's low. And perfect agreement is difficult to achieve since the analog gauge on my traditional manometer is 2mm resolution.
In my experience, there's variability in successive measurements by a mercury manometer and stethoscope (procedural variability) so getting perfect correspondence of the same device to itself is unlikely. So the degree of correspondence between a cuff pressure manometer + stethoscope and the new Omron is acceptable to me. Next visit to the MD I'll take my Omron along for a final check on agreement.
Likes:
1. Software graphs of USB uploaded measurements over time make me visually aware of degree of my BP control. This rules out relying on my memory, which tends to only recall the better measurements.
2. When set to average 3 measurements, just leave Omron wrist unit on and elevated to heart level, and the unit takes care of deflating and pausing between measurements, then presenting me with the average. Nice.
3. I find the degree of agreement with conventional analog manometer and stethoscope to be comforting.
Dislikes:
None occurs to me.

This monitor is very accurate, and for the past month has been within 5 points of my doctors mercury blood pressure monitor. The only drawback: it cannot store independent data for two persons, which may be ideal for couples. The hand positioning sensor is also a great addition that improves the accuracy of the readings.
I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone.

Product works very well, highly recommend it. I tried another wrist blood pressure cuff and it was not accurate or reliable.
