 "Easy to operate" 2008-06-23

Very good and reliable monitor. Best thing is that it is very easy to put on arm and automatically pumps to correct level and deflates when finished.

"very inaccurate BPM and lousy return policy" 2008-06-05
By Movie lover (Alabama)
This BPM is very inconsistent in its readings. The readings jump all over the place in one sitting. I bought the HEM-711DLX because of the Comfit cuff. I think that the hard board on the inside actually cause the readings to be inaccurate. And the cuff belies it name and is not comfortable at all.

Example of inaccuracy: This new HEM-711DLX might read in the 130s when I first sit down, jump up to the 150s, then drop to the 120s. It will read 110/72 one time and then five minutes later after sitting quietly, read 162/90, and then the next reading would drop back down to 124/83. I got curious and sat quietly for 30 minutes, taking readings every 5 minutes. The darn thing just jumped all over the place with its readings. It often inflates too much (inflation should not be more than 20 points over your systolic). So, I cannot trust any reading it gives.

Because my BP occasionally spikes, I have been keeping a BP chart for my doctor which included notations of meals and activities. I do this one week per month. When I used my previous monitor, a Lifesource, during one sitting, my blood pressure would steadily drop. It might read from the high130s/mid-80s when I first sit down to mid-120s/high-70s to mid-110s/over mid-70s (5 minutes of sitting quietly between each reading). This was consistent with the readings at the doctor's office. As long as my BP drops while resting, I do not have to go on medication.

But I accidentally dropped my Lifesource monitor and caused it to die.

When I got back online at Amazon to return the monitor, I found that Heart Rate Monitors USA charges a 15% restocking fee if you have used the item. It does not matter to them that the item is in new condition and was used only once or twice. I would have had to phone them within 3 days if the item was defective, but I didn't figure out the problem within 3 days. Also, they charge a very high return shipping fee (about $20) for mailing the item back to them because they want the `gift of free shipping' back. They say that shipping may possibly be more than what you would actually pay at the USPS (as far as I could tell, I am not allowed to ship it back by paying my own shipping at USPS.) So, since I would lose close to half of what I paid for the monitor to return it, I will give it to a thrift store. Yes, I should have checked Heart Rate Monitors USA return policy before making the purchase, but I thought Amazon made sure that vendors accepted returns without causing the customer trouble. I have never had problems with returning an item before now.

Amazon should not allow Heart Rate Monitors USA to maintain such a lousy return policy. I will not purchase anything from Heart Rate Monitors USA again!

 "Digital Blood Pressure Monitor" 2008-02-25
By Linda Fulks
I ordered this BP Monitor to assist the docs in getting the patients back to the rooms in timley manner. Since I am not a nurse and have not had training in taking blood pressures, I just slip this onto the patients arm and it's so simple to use - just press the button and it automatically pumps the cuff and gives me an accurate reading. I just love it! Thanks.
